Tuition waivers streamlined for employees and full-time faculty
July 21, 2025
The Office of the Bursar staff is excited to share an update that makes accessing educational benefits easier for our employees and full-time faculty. Beginning this term, tuition waivers will be automatically applied to benefit-eligible employees and full-time faculty accounts—no form is needed.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Automatic waiver application: The Accounts Receivable (AR) team will identify benefit-eligible employees and full-time faculty taking classes. An automated process will apply waivers based on up to 8 credits
per term and 16 credits per year.
- Student employees do not fall into this category.
-
Professors with emeritus status must be currently employed with the university to qualify.
- Timing: Waivers will start being applied approximately two weeks before the start of classes.
- Monitoring add/drop activity: The AR team will automatically track class add/drop activity to ensure waiver amounts
align with final enrollment status.
- Supervisory approval still required: If you're taking courses during scheduled work hours, departmental approval is still
required and should be kept on file within your department. This approval will not
happen through the tuition waiver form.
- Tuition waiver forms are still required for family members, adjuncts, and adjunct
family members:
- Employee and full-time faculty spouses and dependents
- Adjunct faculty, their spouses, and dependents
- Seniors are also required to submit a tuition waiver form.
This update supports educational growth across our community while reducing administrative barriers.
