Petersburg youths can learn to cook garden-fresh dishes

Youths in Petersburg can learn to prepare dishes from garden-fresh produce, such as the lettuce, squash and other vegetables in this Southeast Alaska hoophouse.

Middle and high school students are invited to a free Cooking (in) the Garden series at the Petersburg School and Community Garden. Students will make various savory and sweet recipes using items harvested directly from the garden and greenhouse.

The series is sponsored by the ´ºË®ÌÃÊÓÆµ Cooperative Extension Service and will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 11-12, from 2-4 p.m. Youths may participate on one or both days. 

The event is free, but registration is required at.

All ingredients and equipment will be supplied.
