Clare Loftus joined ACEP in March and has been busy providing support to ACEP’s Energy Policy and Innovation team, assisting in the management of partnerships, initiatives and projects.

Loftus works directly with ACEP Chief Scientist Gwen Holdmann and other members of the energy policy and innovation team. This group serves as a think tank, promoting innovative solutions to Alaska’s energy challenges and supporting policymakers, industry leaders and the public in navigating complex energy issues. The team organizes community town halls, publishes white papers and provides legislative analyses on emerging technologies and policy developments.

“Clare is naturally energetic, inquisitive and people-oriented,” Holdmann said. “She’s a great fit for ACEP’s community-facing approach to research, and I’m looking forward to working closely with her.”

Loftus brings a curiosity for new ideas and is committed to building strong relationships. She has 15 years of experience as a salon professional and business owner, where she developed strong skills in connecting with people. Drawing on her interests and experience, she hopes to build relationships with communities and contribute to Alaska’s path toward a more resilient energy future.

“I’m deeply passionate about Alaska, its future, people and well-being,” Loftus said. “I’m committed to fostering meaningful connections and sustainable progress across the state.”

When she is not at work, Loftus enjoys being outdoors, walking, gardening, playing with her children and spending time at her family cabin 3.5 hours away from ˮƵ by boat or snowmachine. She also enjoys cooking and painting.

Loftus was born and raised in ˮƵ, Alaska. With a B.A. in French from UAF, she has lived in and traveled to many other places.

“But ˮƵ and Alaska will always be home,” she said.
